Another Great Concert Scheduled for Kodiak to Enjoy!

If you had the opportunity to attend the Peter Mulvay/Patty Larkin Concert at the Orpheum, you got to experience the quality accoustics of the theater and some incredible music. It went so well at that venue that Rusty has agreed to let KMXT hold another concert at the Orpheum. The convenient location, availability of snacks (he opened the concession stand for us) and a great show what better way to spend a December evening.

Marshall Crenshaw is a legend in the world of music and Dan Berns is an incredible talent. Both will be performing on Tuesday night December 2nd at 7:oo p.m. Tickets are $25 and are available here at KMXT, Downtown at the Treasury or at the Orpheum on the night of the concert. Should be a great show and we hope to see you there!

And the Winners Are!

What an incredible Fund Drive! Fiscal and Physical Health was the theme and members seemed to be thrilled with the Apple a Day Level! Listening to KMXT programing keeps you healthy, like an apple a day! Thank you to everyone who made a pledge to the station.

I want to announce the volunteer winners of the 5,000 Alaska Airline Miles.

For the most new members during thier show:
Leigh Thomat with 2 new members during her Tuesday Morning Show

Jim Cobis with the most money brought in during his show "Peace Train"

and a special award to Jim Peterson who's show "The Acoustic Music Hour" has consistently brought in the most pledges during our fund drives: a Digital Radio.

Thank you to all the volunteers who did such an incredible job for KMXT on the air, answering phones and at the Safeway Table. You are all AWESOME!

The concert at the Orpheum was AMAZING. What a fun venue an intimate setting with popcorn, very cool. Patty Larkin and Peter Mulvey are wonderful, they are both so talented and gracious.

So thank you all for the successful Fund Drive and remember you can become a member of KMXT ANYTIME.

How to win 5,000 Alaska Airline Miles and More!

OK I mentioned the Fund Drive coming up on October 20th and that we are focusing on increasing our Membership and visiblity. They go hand in hand, the more people who know about us and listen, the more who will want to become members. Plus for every $25 of their pledge everyone gets one chance at our Grand Prize of 60,000 Alaskan Air Miles. Pledges have to be paid before December 1st to qualify for an entry.

And there's more:

In my last article I talked about all KMXT members being entered in a special drawing if they bring in new members.

KMXT wants to do something special for our On-air volunteers during the Fund Drive. The host who brings in the most new members during thier shift will win 5,000 Alaska Air Miles! And the Host who brings in the most money during their shift will win 5,000 Alaska Air Miles! The Fund Drive schedule is posted on this site so take a look. If you would like to sign up for an air shift give me a call. Start talking to people now about becoming a member and have them call in when you are on the air. Remember this is the most "New Members" and the "Most money" So plan ahead and win those miles :)

Don't forget to celebrate the end of the Fund Drive:
Patty Larkin and Peter Mulvey will be performing as part of the KMXT concert series at the Orpheum Theater on Tuesday, October 28th. Two incredible artists in one show. Tickets are available now at KMXT. $25 per person.

What a Weekend!

With the success of these two events behind us KMXT now moves on to the next events.

On October 20th we will kick off our On-Air Fall Fund Drive! Do you have friends who have listened to KMXT for years and are not members? Do you know people, new to the community, who may not have found us yet? Or has your membership lapsed and you need to renew?

We are focusing on increasing membership and visibility this fund drive. If you know someone who will call in and become a first time member, have them mention your name and you will be entered in a special drawing. You will get one entry for each membership you bring in. Cool huh? Ok, thats your challange, start thinking of people to mention this to and help KMXT grow stonger this fall. We are all in this together, thank you for your support.

I almost forgot the best part. To celebrate the end of the Fund Drive:

Patty Larkin and Peter Mulvey will be performing as part of the KMXT concert series at the Orpheum Theater on Tuesday, October 28th. Two incredible artists in one show. Tickets are available now at KMXT. $25 per person

Are you a Runner? KMXT could use your help with the 2nd Annual "Run The Rock" Race

HELLO FELLOW RUNNERS AND SUPPORTERS OF RUNNING EVENTS! KMXT could use your help with organizing THE UPCOMING "RUN THE ROCK" Marathon

A note from KPBC Board Member Laura Creighton

After the surprising turnout and success of the Run the Rock Marathon last year, the members of the KMXT board are excited to get going on organizing this year's event. Unfortunately, many of the key players are not available this year, so we are putting out a call for assistance. We'd like insight on things that were successful and unsuccessful last year, as well as people with expertise and/or willingness in all aspects of race planning and race day support, including areas like timing, race marking, registration, road support and water stations.

On Wednesday, July 23, at 6:00, any and all interested people can join us at the radio station for a burger and hotdog grill-up and an organizaional meeting. The Run the Rock Marathon II is set for Oct. 4. Please contact me with any questions, 487-9798, or call the radio station 486-3181.

Arizona Visit

I went to visit an old friend from Kodiak, luckily she lives in Arizona so I got to spend some time in the sun. They thought it was cold in the mid 60's, HA! My friend kept apologizing about the cold, she seems to have forgotten what Kodiak winters are like. The top photo is Sedona, where it was snowing, the second Scottsdale, the Cactus is a "Fishhook Cactus" the thorns were literally used as fish hooks and the last a beautiful sunset outside of Wickenberg.

Im going to write abit about my Vacation as soon as I get pictures loaded. Kodiak is a beautiful place to live but I have to admit it was great to be in the Arizona desert for abit. Lori

It's Groundhogs Day

Matt and Aaron, Hosts of todays Enchanted Island Show, let Kodiak know what Phil had to say this morning. Here is the official word from the official Website

Groundhog .org - the Official Site of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club

Phil Says Six More Weeks of Winter!
Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/08 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:

Here Ye! Here Ye! Here Ye!

On Gobbler's Knob on this fabolous Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2008
Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators,
Rose to the call of President Bill Cooper and greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths.

After casting a weathered eye toward thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil consulted with President Cooper and directed him to the appropriate scroll, which proclaimed:

"As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me.
Six more weeks of winter it will be!"
