The skeleton of a California gray whale, that was found on Pasagshak Beach in May of 2000, will soon be on display in Kodiak at the new National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center now under construction.
Conservationist Stacy Studebaker, is heading the reconstruction team, that is carefully putting the whale back together. “Gordie,” is the name of the gray whale being restored. The whale is named after Stacys 95-year-old father who also helped in the restoration.
The gray whale skeleton will hang from the second floor of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.
Also assisting with the restoration is Lee Post of Homer. Post is the author of a series of books on animal restoration.
